[Realpacking Recorder] Motion Detection Feature Update

September 15, 2025

Realpacking Recorder v3.5.0-Beta has been newly updated.

This update introduces motion detection functionality based on valuable feedback from our clients' operational sites. Experience our new motion detection feature that records video only when movement is detected, reducing video storage requirements and efficiently shortening video review time.

🔊 Motion Detection Born from Real Client Needs

Realpacking's motion detection feature was developed based on actual feedback from our clients' operational environments.

For example, at one logistics center, while the actual loading and unloading process for trunk line operations takes only 10-20 minutes, the total recording time often exceeded an hour due to capturing forklift movements and waiting periods. Similarly, in dried food and food manufacturing facilities, the lengthy drying or cooking processes with minimal movement resulted in unnecessary video data accumulation during periods of little to no activity.

To address these challenges where recording duration far exceeded the actual meaningful work periods, we developed motion detection that automatically records only when movement occurs and pauses when there's no activity.

🏃 Movement-Based Recording with Motion Detection

The motion detection feature automatically pauses video recording when no movement is detected and resumes recording when motion is identified again. The existing start and stop recording functions remain unchanged, affecting only the pause/resume functionality during active recording sessions.

This ensures that only meaningful work segments are recorded, reducing video length while efficiently minimizing storage requirements for both recording and archival. Additionally, staff responsible for video review no longer need to watch unnecessary segments or manually skip through footage, enabling them to quickly focus on essential content and improve operational efficiency.

❓ How to Use

  1. Download Realpacking Recorder v3.5.0-Beta.
  2. Check "Use Motion Detection" in camera settings.
  3. Adjust sensitivity while monitoring the person icon in the bottom-left corner of the preview screen.
  4. After setting appropriate sensitivity, start recording – the system will automatically pause and resume based on detected movement.

💡 Tips

Sensitivity adjustment is crucial. If set too high, the system will react to minor changes; if too low, it may miss actual movement. Adjust according to your work environment using our recommended values as a reference.

Recommended Sensitivity Values by Resolution

  • VGA, SVGA → approximately 80
  • HD-FHD → approximately 95-97

Motion detection is particularly optimized for situations requiring long-duration recording where meaningful segments are limited. It's especially useful for logistics center loading/unloading operations with freight handling, specific manufacturing process stages, or traditional food processing facilities with extended curing periods – scenarios where you want to capture only key processes within hours of operation.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • When motion detection mode is active, resource usage increases compared to normal mode, potentially causing screen artifacts.
  • Motion detection only controls pause/resume during recording; start/stop recording functions operate the same as before.
